Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8) Hardware :: Portable USB Memory Card ReadersJun 2, 2009
My Mom and I have different cameras and she doesn't use a computer, so she usually asks me to upload her pics. Problem is, she's got a Sony Camera and it uses a proprietary Sony cable and I hate having to switch between my cable (just a standard USB camera cable) to hers. What I want is a compact USB memory card reader that handles both SD and Sony Memory Sticks. I'd like one that just plugs straight in to USB without a cable. I've looked around and can't find a whole lot.
Hardware :: Why / Where To Find SD Card Readers To Firewire 400Best Buy Cac Card ReaderSep 28, 2009
I have a camera that has an SD slot and I use an 8GB card. When I connect my camera to my Macbook, it looks like it's going closer to uSB 1.1 speeds than USB 2.0, nowhere close to 480 Mbps. This is really inconvenient and would like a faster solution. I've searched Amazon and I've found CF to FireWire 800/400 readers, but none for SD. I've found a few USB 2.0 ones for SD, but USB 2.0 is not nearly as fast as Fire Wire in the real world. Anyway, does anyone know of Firewire to SD card readers? I'd really like one. It annoys me they only have fire wire for compact flash.
IMac (Intel) :: Won't Allow External USB Card Readers To Mount Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1Dec 1, 2014
My 27in late 2013 iMac using Yosemite 10.10.1 will not recognize USB card readers. I've tried 3 different card readers and even a brand new 3.0 reader. I only Lexar Professional Compact Flash cards, so I have to use an external card reader. My 2010 Macbook Pro has no problems reading all 3 of my external card readers. If I plug in an SD card to the external card reader nothing happens, but if I insert the SD card straight into the iMac it can recognize the card immediately. What am I doing wrong?

PowerPC :: How To Access The Airport Card Settings To Get Wireless ConnectivityMar 4, 2009
I just installed the Airport extreme wireless card on my emac, but I have run into some problems:
1)after installing the card, the mac took a very long time to start up, I tested to make sure it was the card: everytime I started it up without the card, it did the normal thing, but with the card, it took a long time 2)after finally starting up, nowhere can i find where/how to configure the wireless. Maybe I expect too much, or need to learn about some networking or other tweaks to help things along, but I feel like my Mac Pro has disappointing performance.
I've got an Early 2008 Mac Pro, dual quad core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz processors, 12 GB of memory, 1.6 GHz bus, gigabit ethernet to a 25Mbps/25Mbps fiber (Fios) connection, have run namebench to find the fastest name servers possible, and I still feel like my Mac Pro is slow. Just popped in a 500GB Momentus XT Hybrid Drive to replace the 78Mbs 320GB drive that came stock to help things along. Helped speed boot times and common app load times a lot, but after things are loaded, not much is notably faster. OK, so I let Firefox get out of hand sometimes and I have 100+ open tabs, 4 open browsers (and sometimes 2 or 3 versions of Firefox running different profiles) -- Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari -- ssh tunnels and sessions galore, Evernote, Time Machine, and VMware running some video monitoring software (Dog Poop Cam -- gonna catch whomever is letting their dog crap in my yard). Even shutting software hogs down and then trying to play Team Fortress 2, granted at 1920x1200 pushing to limits of the ATI Radeon HD 2600, things are still feeling slow. TF2 in Windows seems much faster and more responsive on the same hardware -- maybe that's just the fault of Steam or Apple's lack of up-to-date drivers, but frustrating nonetheless. Load average is usually 0.5 to 1.0, sometimes reaching 2.0 (full load would be 8.0), memory usage is at 50-60%, and disk activity is reasonable. What is wrong? What can I tweak to improve things? Are my expectations simply too high?

IMac :: Common Denominator With Lockups For 4850 ATI Version?Apr 18, 2009
I don't mean to start a new Thread but I think this one could really pinpoint the problem if we could get some good feedback on this. What is the Common Denominator (besides having the HD4850 option) that could be causing the lockups that some people are having.
Examples Is everyone who is experiencing lockups : 1.) Installed Boot Camp and using Windows with this HD4850 option? 2.) Do you use Safari exclusively and not FireFox? 3.) Does it happen only when Surfing ? 4.) Does it happen only when playing a certain game like WOW? 5.) Does it happen only after you been using the iMac for a few hours? so on. . . See my point? Write down or make yourself notes to as what you were doing exactly when it locked up? Reply to this Thread and lets figure this out. It will be must easier if everyone could put their situation in this Thread and maybe we can get to the bottom of this. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.

Mac Pro :: Wireless Card - Can't Find Networks And Airport CardApr 14, 2009
I bought my Mac Pro as a refurb from Apple, but it didn't come with the wireless card built in. This didn't bother me because at my old apartment my computer was near the router so I just wired it up by ethernet. I just moved into a new place and my computer isn't within router distance and I don't want to run a bunch of cable. My boss gave me a card to plug into Apple wifi card spot and OSX found the card and showed some airport info, but it didn't find any networks and if I run the Airport Utility it says it can't find an airport card. So I assume it's not compatible. What are my options? Oh yeah, I found this on ebay. Sound reliable? [URL:..]
